Tip to eliminate dry skin

A half-hour hot bath or shower is sure tempting at this time of year, but it will ultimately deplete your skin’s moisture. Instead, take a five to 10 minute lukewarm shower or bath, using a mild unscented cleanser. Pat, do not rub, yourself dry and within three minutes, apply moisturizer to your skin. You may have heard that exfoliating your skin will remove dead skin cells and help lotion sink in, but it may actually remove the skin’s natural protective oils.

Pearls of Wisdom for Treating Winter Skin

1. Cold dry winter air stimulates Rosacea and Acne. Eliminate drying detergent cleansers and use lightweight moisturizers (Di Morelli moisturizer). Protect and moisturize your skin to prevent outbreaks and dry, irritated skin.

2. If you’re traveling, air on air planes has even less humidity than a desert so be sure to use lots of moisturizer. Also, avoid hot showers and baths as they deplete the skin’s natural oils (make sure to pat your skin dry).

3. For home run procedures, consider eye and cheek rejuvenation with Restylane or Juvederm to get rid of tired or fatigued looking eyes.

4. Even though it’s winter those harmful rays are still out in full force so don’t forget to consistently use your lightweight UVA/UVB sunscreens under your make up.

The Non-Surgical Nose Job

The new ‘Botox nose job‘ is becoming one of the most popular ways to use Botox. Once injected into the nose, Botox creates a new shape and contour. It is particularly popular amongst patients with a “hump” in their nose that they wish to get rid of; one quick injection into the tip of the bridge causes it to swell, making the “hump” blend in with the rest of the bridge. To create a more upturned nose or one that is more down turned, Botox can be injected into the nostrils or bulb of the nose. Best of all, the ‘Botox nose job’ is a great way to change the look of your nose with out committing to surgery. Unfortunately, Dr. Morrell is not a miracle worker and if your nose is misshapen or you wish to decrease the overall size of it, you’re better off getting traditional rhinoplasty.

BOTOX® for bigger eyes?!?

According to BOTOX® specialist, Dr. Morrell, a tiny amount of BOTOX® around the eyes can actually make them look wider! This procedure is performed on anyone seeking bigger eyes, but is particularly popular amongst Asian patients. The BOTOX® is injected into the lower portion of the orbicularis oculi (in layman’s terms: the muscle encircling the eye, near the cheekbone), causing the middle of the eye to open downward, creating an enlarged eye opening. The procedure results in a more almond shaped eye that is widest in the middle and more narrow on the sides.
