What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting ® is an FDA approved breakthrough, non-invasive technology that freezes away stubborn fat. It is a simple and safe way to remove unwanted fat from your body without surgery.
How does CoolSculpting work?
Unlike most other methods of fat reduction, CoolSculpting involves no needles, surgery, or downtime. Patients often spend the procedure time reading, working on their laptops, or simply relaxing.
Cryolipolysis (CoolSculpting) uses controlled cooling to target and freeze unwanted fat cells in a selected area to induce a noticeable, natural-looking reduction in fat bulges. It eliminates these unwanted fat cells from the body through the process of apoptosis. The process pops the fat cells which are then eliminated through your liver over a period of time. The process doesn’t stress the liver as it gradually happens over a period of two months. Each CoolSculpting treatment results in an average 20% reduction of fat in the treated area.
Is CoolSculpting safe?
CoolSculpting procedure is FDA cleared and has been performed millions of times worldwide and is recognized as a safe and effective treatment for visible fat bulges in the submental area, thigh, abdomen, and flank. As the #1 non-invasive fat reduction procedure and with millions of CoolSculpting procedures performed worldwide, it is proven to be a safe and effective treatment. Unlike other procedures that use heat to reduce body fat, CoolSculpting doesn’t affect internal organs as it uses cold to freeze and pop the fat cells instead.
What will the results be and when will I see it?
The result of CoolSculpting is a noticeable, natural-looking reduction of fat in the treated area.
CoolSculpting can reduce the fat layer by an average of 20%. If the patient’s treatment plan calls for a second procedure, an additional 20% reduction can be experienced. Final losses may be more or less, depending on the patient.
Patients may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after their treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after two months. However, the body will still be flushing fat cells at that time, and will continue doing so for up to four months.
Am I a good Candidate for CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a fat-reduction procedure that is specifically designed for those who have unwanted fat in targeted areas, it is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. Good candidates for CoolSculpting are those who have stubborn and noticeable fat bulges in certain areas that they’d like to get rid of.
Are the CoolSculpting results permanent?
During the CoolSculpting procedure, the treated fat cells are naturally eliminated from the body. The eliminated fat cells are gone for good. As long as the patient maintains his or her weight with a normal diet and exercise, long-term results should remain stable.
Can I return to normal activities after the procedure?
Yes! CoolSculpting does not require any downtime! The procedure is completely non-invasive, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Patients often return to work on the same day after a CoolSculpting treatment is completed.
What area of the body can CoolSculpting work on?
The great thing about CoolSculpting is that it can be used to treat unwanted fat in different parts of the body. The CoolSculpting machine has applicators that come in a variety of sizes, each applicator is specifically designed to tackle a particular target area.
Areas that CoolSculpting can treat:
- Love handles
- Belly fat
- Inner and outer thigh
- Stubborn lumps and bumps

How long is each treatment and how many treatments will I need?
The length of each treatment and the number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient depending on the area and their goals.
Typically, each treatment can take between 35-60 minutes. However, the length of your CoolSculpting treatment will vary depending on the number of areas treated during one visit. Some patients have multiple areas treated during the same visit. Our CoolSculpting physicians will help you create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals.
What happens if I gain weight after my CoolSculpting procedure?
For many people, after they start seeing the results from their CoolSculpting procedure, feel even more motivated to stay close to their ideal weight. As long as you maintain a healthy diet and exercise, the results from the procedure will be long-lasting. However, if you do happen to gain weight, you may gain it evenly over your body and not just in the treated areas.
What is the difference between Venus Freeze and CoolSculpting?
Venus freeze is a heat based non-invasive skin care treatment that combines Radio Frequency (RF) and Magnetic Pulses into a technology called (MP)². It is known to smooth skin and cellulite as well as tightening the skin. Its (MP)² technology has the ability to access deeply, comfortably, and safely into the skin in order to achieve optimal results. However, Venus Freeze doesn’t destroy the fat cells, it only shrinks them.
Getting your best results after CoolSculpting
A common question that we often encounter is whether or not CoolSculpting can tighten loose skin. Contrary to popular beliefs, CoolSculpting does not get rid of loose skin. On the other hand, Venus Freeze would be a more effective treatment for skin tightening. Freezing fat cells can contour your body shape but it does not make you lose weight. Losing fat and losing weight are two different things. CoolSculpting results are effective and are best measured with a tape or picture as most of the changes are visual and not necessarily visible on the weighing scale.
To maximize the results and to use the procedure as a jump start to achieve a better overall body shape, we recommend regular exercising after the procedure. Patients sometimes tend to overeat after the treatment as they feel the procedure will offset a higher caloric intake, which is not the case. It is extremely important for you to maintain a healthy diet to achieve noticeable and long-lasting results upon completion of the procedure cycle.
