Collagen Induction Therapy
Automated Micro-Needling (a.k.a. Collagen Induction Therapy or ECIT) is an FDA approved technique in aesthetic medicine used to treat the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improve skin’s texture, tone and color. During the procedure, the Eclipse MicroPen® is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin, immediately followed by an infusion of nutrients to aid and stimulate production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis and dermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. Eclipse MicroPen® Elite creates micro-channels which allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture and softer, younger looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Eclipse MicroPen® Elite can improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, acne scars, and traumatic scars.
HOW IS THE PROCEDURE DONE?
A sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-points is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen® Elite. Your skin-care professional will apply sterile saline to your skin and select the appropriate pen position based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
The MicroPen® Elite, which won THE Aesthetic Industry Award for Best Micro-Needling Device, is affordable, effective, requires minimal down time and provides natural-looking results.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
Plasma Rich Platelet (Vampire Facial)
PRP microneedling combines PRP and microneedling.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive, FDA approved technique in aesthetic medicine that is primarily used to minimize the signs of aging. The procedure involves the use of the Eclipse MicroPen® to puncture the skin at various depths to create controlled micro-channels which stimulates collagen synthesis. This repair process results in a thicker epidermis and dermis which will soften the appearance of wrinkles. These micro-channels will also allow topical treatments to be absorbed more effectively.
PRP or platelet-rich plasma, is a concentration of plasma with platelets derived from the patient’s own blood. The platelets contain cytokines and high levels of various growth factors, which, when applied to the skin, will stimulate cell turnover and help damaged, aging skin grow new collagen.
When PRP is combined with microneedling, PRP will be applied topically during the microneedling process. This allows the PRP to penetrate the skin through the micro-channels which will greatly enhance the the benefits of microneedling.
How is PRP Microneedling different from regular Microneedling?
During any microneedling procedure, a topical serum is applied to allow the microneedling pen to glide over the skin smoothly. The difference between PRP microneedling and regular microneedling is that during PRP microneedling, our Skin Technicians will apply PRP derived from the patient’s own blood instead of hyaluronic acid serum, which is what we use for regular microneedling procedures.
How is the procedure done?
Prior to beginning the microneedling process, Dr. Morrell or Dr. Ghuman will draw a small amount of blood from the patient’s arm into a sterile tube. The tube of blood will then be spun in a centrifuge which will separate the platelet-rich plasma from the red and white blood cells. The platelet-rich plasma will then be applied onto the skin as the microneedling pen goes over the skin.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.
