Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliation treatment that gently removes dead skin cells and fine facial hair using a sterile, precision blade. The result is instantly smoother, brighter-looking skin with a refined texture and enhanced glow.

This advanced technique not only promotes faster cell turnover but also improves the absorption of skincare products, helping your routine work more effectively. It creates the perfect canvas for flawless makeup application and leaves skin feeling exceptionally soft and refreshed.

Dermaplaning can be enjoyed as a standalone treatment or incorporated as a preparatory step before services like peels or laser treatments, supporting optimal skin responsiveness. Suitable for most skin types, it’s a simple yet powerful way to achieve a radiant, healthy-looking complexion.

How does it work?

Our expert aestheticians gently exfoliate the skin using a sterile, surgical-grade scalpel and light, feather-like strokes.  The treatment is quick, comfortable, and completely painless.

This precise technique effectively removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells, along with trapped debris, oil, and fine “peach fuzz,” revealing a complexion that feels exceptionally smooth and has a fresh, dewy glow.

Downtime

The best part is that there’s no downtime. You can head straight back to your day, enjoying instantly smooth, healthy, radiant skin.

Since dermaplaning provides a deep level of exfoliation, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun—so daily SPF is essential to protect and maintain your glow.

How much does it cost?

The treatment starts at $135.

How long does it take?

The treatment usually takes  30-60 minutes depending if you include any add ons to the treatment.

Who is a candidate?

You are a good candidate for dermaplaning if you have the following skin concerns:

  • Dull or Dry Skin: Those seeking a rejuvenated, glowing complexion.
  • Rough Skin Texture: Individuals looking for smoother skin and improved, more even makeup application.
  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles: Clients wanting to reduce the appearance of aging.
  • Vellus Hair (Peach Fuzz): Anyone wanting to remove fine facial hair.
  • Mild Acne Scars & Hyperpigmentation: Those with minor acne scarring or uneven skin tone.
  • Pregnant or Nursing Women: Individuals looking for a safe alternative to chemical peels.

Benefits

There are many benefits of dermaplaning, especially when complemented with another treatment. Benefits include:

  • Exfoliation: Dermaplaning gently exfoliates the skin to help support cellular turnover.
  • Even skin tone: Dead skin cells can clog pores, making skin look uneven. By removing them, dermaplaning can reveal smoother, brighter skin.
  • Anti-aging: By encouraging cell turnover, dermaplaning can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, age spots, or uneven skin tone. It may also help reduce hyperpigmentation caused by acne.
  • Minimal downtime: Unlike more invasive treatments, dermaplaning doesn’t require recovery time – you can resume your normal skincare routine afterward.

Pain-free: Dermaplaning is a safe, simple, and painless procedure for removing facial hair.

How to Prepare for Dermaplaning

While this is a quick and easy procedure, there are a few steps to take before your appointment to ensure the best results. Before you come to MRC we ask that you:

  • Refrain from exfoliating the face 5 days before
  • Do not wax the area 2 weeks before
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure
  • If you have an extreme breakout, we ask that you reschedule your appointment.

What to expect after dermaplaning

Immediately following your dermaplaning procedure, you will see results; however, there may be some slight redness and inflammation of the skin. The full results of your session will be seen roughly 48 hours post-procedure.

Dermaplaning Recovery

There is no downtime associated with dermaplaning; however, we ask that you stay out of direct sunlight, use a gentle cleanser on your skin, and not exfoliate for the next 5-7 days.

Follow- up and maintenance

While your skin will look instantly brighter after a dermaplaning session, the best results are achieved with a series of treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart. This consistent exfoliation helps maintain a smooth, radiant complexion and supports healthy skin renewal.

By removing the outer layer of dead skin cells, dermaplaning allows skincare products to penetrate more effectively, enhancing their performance. It also makes an excellent preparatory step before other treatments, helping your skin respond at its best.  Dermaplaning pairs beautifully with many of the services offered at MRC and is a highly recommended addition to your skincare routine for optimal, glowing results.
