WHAT IS BBL LASER?

BBL (also known as Broad Band Light) is the next-generation of IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy, able to effectively brighten the skin and even out skin tone. This treatment takes years off your complexion and addresses a range of skin concerns including acne and acne scarring, sun damage, brown spots, rosacea, facial veins, and other pigmentation and texture concerns that together contribute to the appearance of dull or aging skin. With BBL Laser, these concerns – sun damage, age spots, hyperpigmentation, and overall dull skin – are targeted to create a brightened, more vibrant and youthful complexion.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

BBL Photofacial is a safe and effective approach to younger-looking skin. It emits broad spectrum photothermal energy, which gently heats the upper layers of the skin and is absorbed by brown spots (melanin) and hemoglobin in blood vessels that cause redness. As heat and energy is absorbed from the BBL Laser, cell regeneration is stimulated, boosting the production of new collagen. Pigmented cells are also destroyed, and blood vessels are closed off.

In the days and weeks following treatment, pigment in the skin will appear to darken as it comes to the surface, and remnants of treated blood vessels will be absorbed by the body. Within 7-14 days, pigment will exfoliate or peel off, and results will be visible within 1-2 weeks.

Studies have shown that with regular BBL Laser treatments, gene expression of DNA is reversed, meaning the skin becomes healthier and more youthful at a molecular level. The skin is left smoother and more vibrant, accompanied by a youthful glow.

WHAT IS THE BBL LASER PROCESS?

This advanced IPL treatment takes about 30 minutes. Before treatment, sun exposure should be avoided. Immediately after treatment, you can expect mild redness and a heating sensation of the skin which will dissipate within 1-2 hours, as well as darkening of pigment which will slough off on its own. After treatment care includes avoiding sun exposure and wearing sunscreen to protect the skin.

Number of treatments as well as the frequency of follow up treatments for optimal results will depend on your skin and desired results, however we typically recommend a series of 3-5 treatments spaced anywhere from 4-6 weeks apart. For each patient, we assess individual needs and concerns to develop a customized treatment plan that is tailored to your individual concerns and specific skin goals.
